Hold on choirs......this is the good stuff!!

The Christmas Festival is on the horizon, we can almost see it. The rehearsals that lead up to the long anticipated performance are the most interesting and exciting rehearsals for me to lead. For the most part, we have learned the "nuts and bolts" and are now in the process of turning our attention to phrasing, balance, diction, beauty of tone, ect... In other words, we are polishing and putting the final touches on the music. These last few weeks are when the music really starts to come to life. What some people may not fully know, is that all three choirs begin rehearsing for the Christmas Festival in August! Yes, we are singing about angels, caroling, snow, etc... in August. It is what we must do in order to have all the music prepared for the Christmas Festival.

I am thankful for the hard work and steadfast dedication of the UC Singers, Union Harmony, and the Regional Chorus. There is no doubt that without all of their hard work, there would be no Christmas Festival to share with the Union College campus and surrounding communities. And I am grateful to my Creator for the opportunity to work with these extraordinary ensembles. So, my parting thought is this -- hold on choirs, we have a lot of work yet to do, but this is the good stuff!!
